I ordered this book just after sending a camera off to be converted to infrared. I'm sure I looked at the description and number of pages before I ordered. But when it arrived, I looked at it and wondered if it contains enough useful content to justify my purchase.No worries. Now that I've read through it, I'm reassured. I appreciate the author's emphasis on the "unknowns" of digital IR photography. I've been reading up on the subject and feeling more confused than enlightened. For one thing, there are a lot of books and articles about using IR filters on regular cameras. That requires a tripod and very long exposures - and you're pretty much limited to photographing static things like buildings, because even a breeze will make foliage look blurred. As David Busch says in a book he wrote ten years ago, those shooting techniques "would have bored Ansel Adams." By the way, that book was: David Busch's Digital Infrared Pro Secrets (David Busch's Digital Photography Guides). It's got a lot of technical information and I'm keeping it as a reference, but it predated the appearance of mirrorless cameras and today's wide availability of camera conversion services, among other things.This book is much more up to date. Karen Dorame describes her experiences using three different IR-converted cameras, including post-processing information. I appreciate the examples of shooting different subjects and under different conditions. She even includes some "what went wrong" examples, which is gutsy. Mostly, after reading this book, I'm less anxious about using my IR-converted camera when it's delivered. Dorame makes the very important point that digital IR photography involves a lot of unknowns and surprises. The effects of IR conversions will vary from camera to camera, and while there are some general principles to keep in mind, there's no substitute for getting out and shooting with the camera. You just have to learn by doing, how a specific camera and lens combination will work.Now I'm looking forward to getting my converted camera and discovering the world of IR photography for myself.

This book is ok but in my opinion is not well organized. I have been dabbling in IR for over 5 years and just obtained a NIKON D810 with a super color sensor. I was in hopes of learning more about the post processing of my images to attain some interesting color in the final images. I did not find much specific help for that in this book. However, this book may meet the needs of other IR photographers with other needs. This book has many pictures but IMHO does not have that much detailed content. Having said that, it will stay on my book shelf for reference due mainly to the fact that there are not a lot of books on IR currently available. The Deborah Sandidge book is still the very best one that I have found but unfortunately is demanding a very high price because it is currently out of print. In conclusion, what didn't meet my needs may well meet yours. I'd suggest that you check it out based upon your particular requirements.

I wanted to find out how others dealt with their own traumatic events and how God helped them recover.We have all found ourselves broken and unable to fix it. Only God can restore our hearts and make us whole again. Gwen brings to mind how this life can beat us up and break our tender hearts. Each chapter tells of someone she knows personally and links her together with a Biblical woman. She then shows us that "God can use each and every person who surrenders her brokenness into His hands...no matter what." It doesn't matter if we are broken from past sin. Sometimes, we ourselves have sinned. Other times, those around us have sinned and we became the object of the sin. Either way, God CAN use the brokenness and turn it into something beautiful. The key is our own surrender of the heart. We must allow God to do the work in our hearts and lives. Then and only then will the beauty shine through.Gwen reminds us that Satan would like to take us down for the last time. He wants to defeat us and convince us that God does not care.These crafty lies of the evil one can hold us back and keep us struggling in the hurt. We must let the lies go. Stop believing the lies and begin believing in the God who created us. Gwen tells us that "when we invite God into our circumstances, He will faithfully respond to our needs". And then we will experience His peace, his presence, His power!

This book and all the testimonies in it are inspiring. I would recommend this book to anybody that thinks they are not good enough to serve God. I would also recommend it to those out there that want to do more with their lives, but keep holding back for some reason or another. Beauty from ashes, this book teaches you how to use the negative things/situations that have happened in your life, into using those things/situations to help others. I can't say enough about this book, I love Gwen and her honesty. This book has changed my life in a great way and I know it will do the same for you! Just buy it already!!!

Each night before bed, I would read a chapter or two of Gwen's book. Her stories touched me deeply. I highlighted many pieces of Scripture to return to when needed. God is using Gwen to touch the lives of many women, young and old . She has been given a wonderful gift from God in her music, speaking, and writing. She is a blessing try o us all.

Great book and we are in the last week, week 5 of the Bible study live on Facebook. Gwen is an awesome leader and author. She's real Thank you for your obedience to God The Father His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. What a blessing. I had also read her I Want It All first .. another great read with a study included in the book 💟
